To apply for Canada PR, applicants need to qualify with 67 points out of 100. The points are allocated based on meeting the criteria prescribed by Canada immigration requirements and Canada PR processes, such as age, qualification, Relevant work experience, English language (IELTS), adaptability, Arranged employment/ job offer, and Settlement Funds.

The Comprehensive Ranking System is the government of Canada’s internal mechanism for ranking candidates based on their human capital, determined by factors such as age, level of education, and language ability. This helps to enable Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to decide which candidates may be issued invitations to apply for permanent residence.

There are up to 600 points available under the system for a candidate's core human capital and skills transferability factors. An additional 600 points will be given to anyone with a confirmed job offer (i.e. having received a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment) in a skilled occupation, or a provincial nomination.

What is PNP and How it Works :

PNP is also known as the Provincial Nominee Program. Express Entry candidates with certain Express Entry provincial nominations or Express Entry offers of arranged employment are awarded additional Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, on top of the Express Entry CRS score they receive for the other eligibility factors.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a program offered by certain provinces in Canada. The PNP allows the provinces to nominate certain Express Entry applicants for permanent residency.

If you are nominated by a province through the PNP, you will receive an additional 600 points on the CRS.

How can I improve my Express Entry CRS score?

There are a few ways that you can improve your Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

1) Get a job offer in Canada from an LMIA-approved employer. Express Entry candidates with a job offer receive 600 additional points on their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

2) Study in Canada. Express Entry candidates who completed a higher level of education or improved their English or French language abilities can receive points on the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

3) Get involved in volunteer work or community service. Express Entry candidates who participated in volunteer work or community service, like coaching an ice hockey team or supporting a local food bank, can receive Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

4) Get your Express Entry score even higher by having strong French or English language skills or getting an education in Canada. Express Entry candidates who have completed their studies in Canada are awarded the maximum number of Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

What is a good CRS Score for the Express Entry Pool?

The average CRS score of applicants who made it into the Express Entry Draw pool in 2019 ranged between 350 and 499, however, this did not mean that they automatically received an ITA. The cut-off for Canadian Residence Sponsorship was 439 to 551 with most people receiving around 460 points according to recent studies conducted by Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC).

No, you do not need a job offer to apply for your Express Entry Profile. You need to score 67 points to qualify for Canada Permanent Residency Visa and apply for Express Entry Program However, if you have a job offer from a Canadian employer, It will help you to improve your CRS score and you will receive 600 additional points for Express Entry Points grid.

Going for a high score in the draw is always good, but if you can get above 500 then there are no worries.
